Finke Desert Race Website Redesign
Australia’s premium Desert Race, The Finke Desert Race featured in Alice Springs Northern Territory (NT), has received a total redesign and custom Content Management System (CMS) to enhance their online experience for 2009!
With loads of new features, and some old favourites, Driver Web Design has offered another local event a brand new redesigned website, featuring many more interactive and eye-candy elements to enhance the members and guests of the Finke Desert Race.
Whether you attend to watch family or friends, participate in the event, or have heard about it, you’ll find loads of information and photos at the Finke Desert Race’s website.
Including some very cool features, such as the interactive gallery made in Flash, a rotating javascript banner, a news section to keep up to date on everything Finke, and many others, the 2009 Finke Desert Race site really is a community portal for all fans and participants.
Why not check out the Finke Desert Race website today?

I have been consistently trying to get information on the Finke Desert Race, but the website including your link keeps coming up with an error. What’s going on is there a specific problem with the site or the links etc.
Hi Shaun,
I don’t see any problem with it at the moment, maybe it was just a temporary network outage. If it concerns specific pages on the site could you please let us know? We will do everything to get it back online as soon as possible.
If you need any specific information that’s not on the site, I can forward your email to Kelsey who’d be happy to help you with that.
Thanks
i havnt been able to get on to the site for months , what a peice of junk
Hi Dave,
Thanks for your message!
We know about the problem and we are trying to resolve it. It seems to be a proxy problem which is caused by one of the internet service or uplink providers.
To put it simply, it means that it isn’t a problem on our side, that only a few people can’t access it, and the only thing we can do is relay the message to the responsible party.
It would really help us if you could let me know which internet service provider you use to access the site.
We’ll do our best to get this fixed as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance,
Johan
More info about the problem:
It is cause by Telstra’s proxy, so most telstra mobile users, and some bigpond users cannot access the site at the moment.
The problem is known by Telstra and it is currently being looked into by Level 3 Techs at Telstra.
This weekend will see up 1000+ concurrent users on the website, even it’s out of our hands, we’ll do whatever is possible to get the website live for telstra users.
More info to come.
Johan
By removing Telstra’s proxy server setting 10.1.1.181 from your Internet enabled mobile device will give you full access to the Finke Website. This has now been proven on many Telstra phones.
On a Mobile phone running Windows Mobile this setting is found at:
Start > Settings > ‘Connections’ tab > Connections > ‘Edit my Proxy Server’
Then untick ‘This network connects to the Internet’
Click ‘OK’ (top right of screen).
The Internet connection on your phone will disconnect & you will get the Mobile Finke Website.
You should know without Telstra’s Proxy setting 10.1.1.181 you won’t get Telstra’s free websites, but you will get everything else. If you want to browse Telstra’s free sites just follow the instructions above to re-enter 10.1.1.181 again.
If you have a different type of phone I don’t know what settings to follow for all different types of mobile devices, please check your phones documentation. But look for something to do with ‘Connections’, ‘Proxy’ & the 10.1.1.181 setting.
Hope this info helps someone & Telstra fixes this problem soon.
